Do you ever feel so connected to the water that you can't explain. Well lets help you understand this feeling and why you need to become beach people, like us.
Studies have undeniably shown that being outside is good for our soul and has a pronounced calming effect on our being. This may be due to our biological connection to water as babies. The start of our existence was enveloped in amniotic fluid and our bodies are made up of 70% of the H20 compound.
Or do we attract to the coastlines because of the color blue and its association to calmness and intuition? According to author Wallace J. Nichols, “Our brains are hardwired to react positively to water and that being near it can calm and connect us, increase innovation and insight, and even heal what’s broken.”
The beach impedes on our plugged in culture and dissolves the tether many of us have to our work + phones. Its a reminder that everything can wait.
Maybe we run to the beach because we need our "vitamin sea" or actual vitamin D. The bodies production of this and serotonin triggers all kinds of good feelings and make us wanting more.
With this combination of all things, we need the water and our beaches to feel more human. We also recognize the privilege of living near bodies of water and how it does not come easy to many. However, the water and benefits it provides needs help and protection. Read our other post about these threats.
